Privacy

Simple by design.

Scope

This notice applies to the Fluxta website at fluxta.app, the documentation at fluxta.app/docs, and the Fluxta desktop application. The browser client that turns a phone, tablet or any other browser into a control deck sends nothing to us itself; what the desktop application reports about the devices connected to it is described under Desktop application.

No forms or accounts

This website does not provide accounts, contact forms, newsletter signups, or advertising trackers. We do not ask you to submit personal information through this website.

Website analytics

This website measures how its pages are used with two services. Simple Analytics collects aggregate visit counts without cookies and without personal data. Google Analytics is provided by Google, which sets cookies on your device to count visits and page views and processes that data under its own privacy policy. We do not use either service for advertising, and we do not combine their data with anything else.

Essential infrastructure data

The services that deliver and protect this website may process standard connection data, such as IP address, request headers, and request timing. This information is used for delivery, security, and operational reliability.

Desktop application

The Fluxta desktop application sends usage statistics so we can see how many people use Fluxta, which features they use, and what to improve. They are on by default; the application tells you so once, and you can turn them off at any time.

What is collected

  • Which features you use and how often: creating Boards, Items, Events and Routines; adding Actions and Event sources, by their type (for example, “open board”); importing and exporting Profiles; installing and removing plugins and Iconsets from the Marketplace.
  • Once a day, totals: how many buttons were pressed, how many Actions of each type ran, how many Events fired, and how many devices connected, by device type. Alongside them, how much is set up: the number of Profiles, Boards, Items, Events, Routines and Variables, which plugins are installed, and how many plugins you linked yourself.
  • Clicks on a fixed set of the application’s controls, such as its main navigation, recorded as the control’s name and the page it is on.
  • When a device is added as a control deck: its type (phone, tablet, desktop and so on) and the names of its operating system and browser.
  • When the application starts, when it is updated and from which version, and when usage statistics are turned off or on.
  • About your computer: the application version, the operating system and its version, the processor architecture, the system language, and the screen size and scale.
  • The country you are in, determined from the connection (see Who processes it).
  • The time of each of the above.

Plugins from the Marketplace and those bundled with Fluxta are named. A plugin you link yourself is never named: it, its Actions and its Event sources are reported as “local”.

What is never collected

  • The names of your Profiles, Boards, Items, Events, Routines, Variables and devices.
  • Variable values.
  • Anything you type into the application, such as button labels, Action settings, or tokens and passwords in plugin settings.
  • File paths or the contents of your files.
  • The name of your computer or of your user account.
  • The names of plugins you link yourself.

Analytics ID

Usage statistics are tied to an Analytics ID: a random identifier created on your computer, not derived from the computer, your accounts, or anything else about you. It is kept when you turn usage statistics off, so turning them back on does not count you as a new user. You can see it in Settings → About.

Who processes it

The application sends usage statistics to t.fluxta.app, a service we run on Cloudflare. It uses your IP address to determine the country you are in and to limit how often one address can send, removes any IP address or location from the statistics themselves, and forwards them to PostHog, which stores them in the European Union. Cloudflare passes your IP address along with each request it forwards, so PostHog receives it; PostHog is set up not to store it and not to use it to locate you. We do not use usage statistics for advertising, and we do not sell them or combine them with anything else.

How long it is kept

PostHog deletes usage statistics one year after they are sent. The latest details it keeps for your Analytics ID, such as the application version, operating system, system language and country, stay until we delete them, for example at your request.

Turning it off

Turn off “Send anonymous usage statistics” in Settings → General. Turning it off sends one last message saying that it was turned off, so we know how many people do; anything not yet sent is discarded, and nothing else is sent while it stays off. If that message cannot be delivered, the application tries once more the next time it starts. Turning it back on sends a message saying so and continues with the same Analytics ID.

Deleting your data

Turning usage statistics off does not delete what was already sent. To have everything tied to your Analytics ID deleted, email [email protected] with the ID from Settings → About.
